Get Involved

Growth should work for residents.

Troy supports thoughtful development and affordable housing that strengthen our neighborhoods without overwhelming schools, infrastructure, parking, transit, or public services.

Major development decisions should be guided by community input, not made behind closed doors. Residents deserve a seat at the table and a voice in shaping the future of our 48th Ward.

Responsible Development and Community Planning

The job of local government is simple:
deliver results for livable communities.

Residents deserve clean streets, reliable City services, well maintained infrastructure, and a
ward office that responds to community needs.

Troy will build an accessible and responsive ward office, improve communication with residents, and hold City agencies accountable for
delivering core municipal services.

Good government is not about headlines or
social media posts. It's about solving problems and making daily life better for residents.

The CTA should be a source of pride for Chicago, not a source of frustration.

Troy believes public transit must be safe, clean, reliable, and convenient. The 48th Ward already has excellent transit access, but residents will only use it when they feel comfortable and safe.

She will advocate for safer stations, cleaner trains, more reliable service, and stronger accountability from CTA leadership, while working with neighboring alderpersons to build support for meaningful improvements.

When public transit works well, it strengthens our neighborhoods, connects people to opportunities, and improves quality of life throughout Chicago.

Small businesses are essential to the character, safety, and vitality of the 48th Ward. Local restaurants, shops, service businesses, entertainment venues, and long-time institutions make the Ward a destination and provide valuable jobs for residents.

Many small businesses are struggling with rising costs, public safety concerns, vacant storefronts, complicated City processes, and ineffective changes to traffic.

Troy believes City Hall should make it easier — not harder — for responsible small businesses to open, operate, and grow, because thriving small businesses are vital to building a safer, more connected, and more livable Ward.

Headline goes here

Troy believes every resident deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported.

She champions: equality for the LGBTQ+ community; access to reproductive healthcare; compassionate solutions to homelessness; expanded access to mental health resources.

By bringing people together, expanding access to essential services, and ensuring every resident is treated with dignity and respect, Troy will work to build a 48th Ward where everyone has the opportunity to "Bloom Where You Are Planted."

Community Inclusion and Well-Being

Every resident deserves to feel safe walking to transit, visiting a park, shopping locally, or returning home at night.

Public safety is about more than policing. It also depends on clean streets, good lighting, mental health response, youth opportunities, safe transit, and responsive City services.

Troy supports a practical public safety approach that combines prevention, accountability, and compassionate intervention. Residents should not have to choose between safety and fairness.
Our community deserves both.

Neighborhood Public Safety

Strong schools are essential to
strong neighborhoods.

Troy believes every child deserves excellent teachers, high-quality education, a safe learning environment, and the opportunity to succeed.
She supports policies that put students first
and improve educational outcomes.

At the same time, Chicago Public Schools must be financially sustainable. Families, homeowners, renters, and small businesses deserve responsible stewardship of public resources and honest planning for future growth.

Troy believes educational excellence and fiscal responsibility go hand in hand, and every neighborhood deserves access to
strong schools with programs leading to
career opportunities.

Schools and School Board Governance

The 48th Ward needs transportation policies to reflect how people actually live.

Troy supports better transit, safer streets, and more transportation choices. But many residents, including families, seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers, workers, as well as small business owners rely on vehicles to
manage the demands of daily life.

Traffic congestion & parking pressures continue to grow across the Ward, transportation decisions must be properly evaluated to balance the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, drivers,
and local businesses.

Troy believes transportation policy affecting our neighborhoods should make daily life work better for everyone, not force residents and businesses into one-size-fits-all directives.

Parking Solutions and Comprehensive Traffic Planning

The 48th Ward deserves more open space, stronger protection of our lakefront access, and public land that serves the entire community.

Troy opposes efforts to weaken lakefront protections and believes major decisions affecting the lakefront should respect the intent of Chicago's Lakefront Protection Ordinance.

Major decisions involving parks, open space, and lakefront development should be guided by thoughtful planning and meaningful community input. Residents deserve a voice in shaping important policies for our public spaces.

Troy believes residents can disagree about development while still treating one another with respect. Community input should be welcomed, heard, and taken seriously when shaping the future of our neighborhood.
