Troy believes in
Schools and School Board Governance
Troy believes every child deserves a high-quality education, safe schools, strong classroom instruction, and a school system that is financially sustainable.
The newly elected school board will make decisions with enormous consequences for students, families, teachers, taxpayers, and neighborhoods. Troy expects school board candidates be committed to fiscal responsibility, reducing bureaucracy, protecting classroom capacity, and improving student achievement.
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) already place a major burden on property taxpayers. Any tax increases to fund an unsustainable system would further strain families, renters, homeowners, and small businesses throughout the 48th Ward and across Chicago.
Troy believes Chicago needs policies that support strong schools in every neighborhood, encourage public and private investment across the city, and ensure that CPS has a sustainable budget focused on students, teachers, and achievable outcomes.
As Alderperson, Troy will:
Advocate for fiscal responsibility and a sustainable CPS budget.
Oppose school funding strategies that place unsustainable burdens on families, renters, homeowners, and small businesses.
Push for honest planning around school enrollment, capacity, and neighborhood growth.
Support high-quality education in every neighborhood.
Encourage public and private investment across Chicago so that every school has the opportunity to grow and thrive.
Troy believes strong schools require commitment to both educational excellence and fiscal responsibility.
