Troy believes in
Small Businesses and Commercial Corridors
The 48th Ward’s small businesses are essential to the character, safety, and vitality of the community. Local restaurants, shops, service businesses, entertainment venues, and neighborhood institutions make the Ward a destination and provide jobs for residents.
But many small businesses are struggling with rising costs - including property taxes - public safety concerns, vacant storefronts, complicated City processes, and inconsistent foot traffic.
As Alderperson, Troy will:
Support safer, cleaner, and more active commercial corridors.
Work to fill vacant storefronts and attract neighborhood-serving businesses.
Help small businesses navigate City permitting, licensing, and inspection processes.
Advocate for streetscape improvements, lighting, cleanliness, and pedestrian safety.
Support local chambers, business associations, and special service areas where appropriate.
Encourage thoughtful development that strengthens commercial corridors.
Troy believes City Hall should make it easier — not harder — for responsible small businesses to open, operate, and grow, because thriving small businesses are vital to building a safer, more connected, and more livable Ward.
